Manager, Component Assembly IE

As an Industrial Engineering Manager at MMP, you will be responsible for leading and managing the activities of a Capacity Planning / Industrial Engineering section, you are responsible to analyzes work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment. To plans utilization of Resources, equipment, materials, and personnel to improve efficiency of operations. To collect information from all appropriate sources and organize the information to make planning recommendations to leadership team. To reviews work orders and staffing plans while making calculations to help determine what resources are needed and how to allot them.

 

Responsibilities and Tasks

Direct and Control Staff

  • Personnel and resource management

  • Maintain professional work environment

  • Recruit, train, and motivate staff to ensure they carry out their responsibilities to required standards

  • Gather input from supervisor and manage groups on staffing needs 

  • Set priorities to provide balanced support among Production, Engineering, and E.S.

  • Hold group and individuals accountable for decisions and performance

 

Capacity modelling, Management and Improvements

  • Build and maintain assembly capacity model

  • Drive capacity improvement projects such as UPH improvement to maximize asset utilization and reduce capital investment

  • Plan and validate equipment throughput, uptime; bottleneck identification and optimization

  • Perform capacity scenario studies for production ramp and site optimization

 

Cost modelling, Management and Improvements

  • Build and maintain assembly cost model

  • Administer assembly Opex and Capex processes

  • Analyze assembly cost and drive cost reduction programs to continually reduce production costs

  • Perform productivity studies and improve man machine ratio for the site

 

Layout Management

  • Assembly layout planning and tool space optimization to achieve maximum assembly output per unit floor area

  • Perform layout scenario studies for new line / expansion

Productivity and Benchmarking

  • Participate in assembly productivity improvements and deploy lean manufacturing principles to improve operational performance

  • Perform inter-site and industrial benchmarking to seek out best practices and propose operational KPI targets to drive manufacturing excellence

 

Requirements:

  • Should be an advanced / experienced user of tools such as AutoCAD, MS Excel/Access to perform complex data analysis

  • Familiar with throughput calculations, capacity bottleneck, utilization and optimization strategies and methods

  • Understands basic operations of a manufacturing plant, ability to generate relevant IE indices/reports in relation to manufacturing

  • Knowledge of basic factory cost structure, capex process and cost reduction methodologies

  • Experience in layout planning (Equipment/utilities), equipment move in/out

  • Should have experience with process flow diagrams, time studies, method/work study and/or other performance analysis methodologies

  • Lean/Six Sigma experience and qualifications can be an advantage

  • Should be proficient in PowerPoint and have experience with management presentations / public speaking

  • Exposure or experience working with multi-functional teams, projects and collaboration

  • Has good inter-personal skill and positive attitude
