Job description
We are seeking a Component Engineer to manage the selection, validation, and lifecycle of electronic and electromechanical parts used in our hardware products. This role ensures long-term availability, compliance, and cost-effectiveness of components, working closely with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to support both new development and sustaining efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate and approve alternative components to support design, sourcing, and production needs
Maintain part libraries and lifecycle data using internal tools or third-party platforms
Provide guidance on part selection, compliance (RoHS, REACH), and risk mitigation during development
Monitor obsolescence and propose replacements or redesigns as needed
Collaborate with suppliers for technical data, change notices, and part qualifications
Work with sourcing to resolve lead time or availability issues through vendor expansion and design input
Support failure analysis and recommend corrective actions for component-related issues
Contribute to DFM efforts by recommending cost-effective and readily available parts
Ensure standard practices for part qualification and documentation are followed
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field
5+ years of experience in component engineering or electronics manufacturing
Strong understanding of passive, active, electromechanical, and semiconductor components
Familiarity with PLM systems, component compliance standards, and lifecycle management tools
Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, BOMs, and datasheets
Skilled in problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and supplier communication
Experience supporting DFM reviews, supply chain collaboration, and cost-down initiatives.
Exposure to reliability testing methods and diagnostic tools (e.g., HALT, SEM/EDX, X-ray).
