Job description
Our client is seeking an experienced Failure Analysis & Root Cause Investigation Engineer to investigate product and process failures during product development and NPI. The role will identify failure mechanisms, verify root causes and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Key Responsibilities
Perform failure analysis using microscopy, SEM, optical testing and other analytical methods.
Identify failure modes, mechanisms and contributing factors.
Lead or support structured root-cause investigations using 8D, 5 Why, fishbone and related methods.
Validate root causes through testing, experiments or simulation.
Support development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Participate in product-design, engineering-change and manufacturing-readiness reviews.
Develop defect FMEA, control plans and failure mapping.
Support product development and NPI activities.
Work closely with design, process, quality, metrology, manufacturing and external partners.
Train engineers and technicians on failure-analysis and problem-solving methods.
Requirements
Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Mechatronics, Electronic Engineering, Photonics, Physics, Optics or related field.
Minimum 10 years of failure-analysis experience in optical and/or semiconductor manufacturing.
Hands-on knowledge of tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, optical microscopy, acoustic microscopy and FTIR.
Understanding of metrology methods and semiconductor or optical-component manufacturing.
Experience with data analysis, correlation studies and hypothesis testing.
Strong knowledge of 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, process mapping and PDCA.
Strong communication, organisation and cross-functional problem-solving skills.
