Job description
Our client is seeking a Metrology Development Principal Engineer to develop and improve advanced metrology solutions supporting optical-component development, NPI and high-volume manufacturing. The role combines hands-on technical work, project leadership and mentoring of junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Lead metrology improvement projects involving automation, integration and measurement accuracy.
Develop new metrology methods for product development and manufacturing.
Improve measurement algorithms, automated data collection and processing.
Support metrology technology roadmap development.
Own MSA activities for assigned measurement systems.
Define specifications and work with suppliers on new metrology equipment.
Lead equipment qualification and buy-off.
Transfer validated metrology methods from development and NPI into mass production.
Resolve complex technical issues and coordinate solutions across teams.
Train and mentor junior metrology engineers and technicians.
Requirements
Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Photonics, Optics, Physics, Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 15 years of metrology experience.
Strong experience in metrology development, characterisation and automation.
Knowledge of MSA, SPC, FMEA and structured problem solving.
Python and/or C++ programming experience is advantageous.
Strong analytical, project-management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
