The Project Engineer is the primary customer-facing contact and represents the Manufacturing Engineering groups, responsible for layout, processes and production of automotive molding parts.
Key responsibilities include:
Provides day-to-day direction to supporting Manufacturing Engineer(s) and Manufacturing Engineering Assistant(s).
Review mold DFM, purchase orders, quality requirements, and Statements of Work to determine engineering feasibility and impact.
Review and interpret customer documentation and Engineering Changes for implementation into the production facility.
Assess manufacturing requirements (capacity, manpower, capital equipment, layout, process flow, etc.) related to customer projects/assemblies and coordinate acquisition when required.
Assists in the preparation, monitoring, and evaluation of equipment set-ups, manufacturing layout, and process changes and/or corrective actions.
Evaluate and inspection and testing processes for monitoring project performance.
Interface and provide progress updates, technical support on engineering and quality issues with the customer as needed.
Maximize project efficiency and control budget.
Understand and drive regulatory and compliance certifications as appropriate. Regulatory requirements surrounding TS16949 and APQP
Drive continuous improvement and optimization, adherence to project schedule.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline is required.
Minimum 2 years of work-related experience required in project management, or related discipline.
Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification is advantageous.
Demonstrated knowledge of molding in automotive industry
