Job description
Manage daily operation activities of microgrid lab and enforce standard operation procedure and applicable workplace safety and health requirements in the lab.
Coordinate among multiple users and maintain microgrid lab operation schedule to optimize its utilization; properly maintain lab supply inventory, operation record and technical documentation.
Operate the microgrid system and its components (including combined heat & power generator, chillers, cooling tower, battery energy storage system, solar PV, etc.) in the lab to conduct daily operations and experiments; investigate methods to automate daily operations.
Review lab experiment requests from internal and external users to advise and ascertain technical feasibility, experiment setup and procedure; supervise these experiments to ensure approved procedure is followed.
Take lead in lab microgrid system upgrading projects to assess feasibility, evaluate potential suppliers, draft specifications, initiate tenders leading to award of contracts/contractors for the project and manage project execution.
Review and maintain the microgrid lab's standard operation procedure regularly to ensure compliance with the relevant codes/standards and specifications, statutory requirements, best industry practices and workplace safety and health requirements.
Work closely with O&M team to ensure proper and timely rectification of defects and maintenance of the microgrid system and its components.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical/electronic/control engineering from recognized university with minimum 5 years of experience in electrical power systems.
Good understanding of electrical system design, integration and its operation principles in microgrid context.
Good understanding in distributed energy resources, such as generator, solar PV, battery energy storage system, etc.
Ability to coordinate among multiple stakeholders and manage project execution.
A self-starter to proactively identify gaps in lab operation as well as proper solutions.
Willingness and ability to adapt to changing business needs and flexibility in job assignments.
