Job description
Our client is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to support Laser Dicing equipment for advanced manufacturing operations in Penang, Malaysia. The role covers equipment specification review, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, process stabilization, and mass-production improvement, with a strong focus on PC-based equipment control software.
Key Responsibilities
Review equipment specifications and support design reviews with suppliers.
Lead installation, commissioning, qualification, ramp-up, and troubleshooting of Laser Dicing equipment.
Develop, review, modify, and troubleshoot PC-based equipment control software, preferably using C#.
Support C++ modules for device communication, image processing, motion control, laser control, galvano mirror interface, and encoder synchronization.
Interface software with laser controllers, motion controllers, vision systems, PLCs, encoders, sensors, I/O modules, and data tracking systems.
Improve equipment stability, uptime, repeatability, positioning accuracy, cutting quality, cycle time, and productivity.
Support PLC-to-PC communication, equipment sequence validation, data collection, DOE, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Work with suppliers and cross-functional teams to resolve equipment, software, automation, laser control, and synchronization issues.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
At least 5–10 years of equipment engineering experience in manufacturing or automation.
Hands-on experience with PC-based equipment control software, preferably C#; C++ experience is an advantage.
Experience with Laser Dicing, Laser Cutting, or similar precision laser processing equipment.
Strong knowledge of equipment HMI, recipe management, alarm/event logging, machine sequence control, data collection, and traceability.
Experience with motion controllers, vision systems, laser controllers, galvano mirror controllers, PLCs, encoders, and I/O devices.
