Job description

Our client is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager, Materials to lead sourcing and supplier management for critical materials, ensuring reliable and cost-competitive supply to support product development and manufacturing scale-up.

The role will partner with cross-functional teams, manage supplier relationships, lead negotiations, support supplier qualification, and build a resilient supply base. The scope may also include selected strategic capital equipment suppliers across Asia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead sourcing activities for assigned materials and commodities across regional and global supplier markets.

  • Develop supplier strategies to support cost, quality, capacity, and supply continuity objectives.

  • Manage supplier relationships, performance reviews, capacity discussions, and commercial negotiations.

  • Partner with engineering, R&D, manufacturing, finance, and operations teams on material requirements and production plans.

  • Negotiate supply agreements, development contracts, prototype arrangements, and long-term commitments.

  • Support supplier qualification and assess capability, cost structure, quality systems, and scalability.

  • Identify cost reduction opportunities through negotiation, alternative sourcing, and supply chain improvements.

  • Monitor market trends, pricing, tariffs, regulations, and supply risks affecting critical materials.

  • Conduct cost analysis, benchmarking, and make-versus-buy assessments.

  • Track supplier performance across quality, cost, delivery, responsiveness, and sustainability metrics.

  • Report sourcing progress, supplier risks, and cost opportunities to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

  • At least 3+ years’ experience in sourcing, procurement, supplier management, or supply chain.

  • Experience in advanced manufacturing, consumer electronics, automotive, or energy storage preferred.

  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field preferred.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
