The Opportunity
Our client seeks an experienced manufacturing executive to lead operations at its Malaysia manufacturing site. Reporting as the executives in HQ, this individual will drive operational performance while building a high-performing organization capable of supporting continued business growth. This is a highly visible leadership appointment requiring a proven manufacturing executive who combines strong operational discipline with the ability to lead large, cross-functional teams through periods of rapid growth and operational scale-up.
The Role
The Vice President will assume full responsibility for the manufacturing site's overall performance, providing strategic and operational leadership across Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Equipment Engineering, Facilities and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS). The successful candidate will be accountable for delivering world-class performance across safety, quality, delivery, yield, cost and operational efficiency, while ensuring the organisation remains focused on execution excellence. Working closely with both site and global leadership teams, the Vice President will lead the stabilisation and acceleration of manufacturing operations by driving production readiness, resolving operational bottlenecks and implementing structured, data-driven continuous improvement initiatives. The role will also play a key leadership role in supporting technology transfers, manufacturing readiness and the successful introduction of new products and processes. Beyond operational execution, the successful candidate will build organisational capability by developing a strong leadership team, establishing a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement, and ensuring succession planning for key site functions. As the senior representative for the Penang facility, the Vice President will work closely with global functional leaders across Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology and Research & Development to ensure site priorities align fully with broader corporate objectives and strategic initiatives.Success in this role will be measured by the site's ability to achieve stable manufacturing performance, consistently deliver operational targets across safety, quality, cost, delivery and yield, strengthen leadership capability, and establish the facility as a trusted manufacturing partner within the global organisation.
Requirements
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or another relevant technical discipline, while postgraduate qualifications such as an MBA or Master's degree would be viewed favourably. Candidates should have at least fifteen years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, including a minimum of five years leading a complex manufacturing site or business unit within the semiconductor or other high-volume manufacturing industries. Experience leading factory start-ups, greenfield projects, major production ramps or large-scale operational transformations will be highly regarded. The successful individual will demonstrate a proven ability to improve manufacturing performance through sustained gains in yield, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), productivity and cost competitiveness within technically complex production environments. They should possess strong analytical capability, sound commercial judgement and a structured approach to operational problem solving. Equally important is the ability to build and inspire high-performing leadership teams, influence stakeholders across global matrix organisations and communicate effectively with executive leadership across multiple functions and geographies. The successful candidate will be recognised as a decisive, collaborative and hands-on leader with the credibility to lead through both strategic direction and operational execution.
