Global Semiconductor Sales Increase 20.6% Year-to-Year in August
WASHINGTON—Oct. 4, 2024—The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) today announced global semiconductor sales hit $53.1 billion during the month of August 2024, an increase of 20.6% compared to the August 2023 total of $44.0 billion and 3.5% more than the July 2024 total of $51.3 billion.

SBI to end plant construction tie-up with Taiwanese chipmaker
SBI Holdings announced Friday the dissolution of its partnership with Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. for the construction of a chip factory in Miyagi Prefecture.
The ailing major Taiwanese foundry has told that maintaining the tie-up became too difficult, SBI said.

LG Display agrees sale of Chinese LCD plant for $1.5 billion
SEOUL (Reuters) -South Korea's LG Display said on Thursday it had agreed to sell its stake in its large liquid crystal display (LCD) plant in Guangzhou, China, to TCL's LCD unit CSOT for 10.8 billion yuan ($1.54 billion).
The sale includes LG Display's 80% stake in its large LCD panel plant and 100% of its LCD module plant, and is expected to be completed in March 2025, the Apple supplier said in a statement.
