Most GlobalWafers plants to resume shipments today after hacker attacks
GlobalWafers Co (環球晶圓) yesterday said shipments from most of its factories that suffered hacker attacks last week are expected to resume today.
GlobalWafers, the world’s third-largest silicon wafer maker, said in a statement that information systems operated by some of its factories suffered hacker attacks on Wednesday last week.

With Memory Market Recovering, Kioxia Has Reportedly Ceased Production Cuts and Secured Bank Lending
According to a report from Nikkei, Japanese memory manufacturer Kioxia has ended production cuts amidst a recovery in the memory market and has secured new bank credit support. The company’s plants in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, and Kitakami, Iwate Prefecture, have restored their production lines to 100% capacity, focusing mainly on NAND flash production.

Toshiba to invest 100 bil. yen in power semiconductors over 3 years

ASML to ship its US$380 million tool to TSMC this year
ASML Holding NV will ship its latest chipmaking machine to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC, 台積電) this year.
Two of ASML’s biggest customers, TSMC and Intel Corp, will get the so-called high-NA extreme ultraviolet (EUV) machine by the end of this year, ASML chief financial officer Roger Dassen told analysts in a recent call, according to the company spokesperson.

VIS and NXP to Establish a Joint Venture to Build and Operate a 300mm Fab
Hsinchu, Eindhoven, June 5, 2024 – Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation (“VIS”, TPEx 5347) and NXP Semiconductors N.V. (“NXP”, NASDAQ: NXPI) today announce the plan to create a manufacturing joint-venture VisionPower Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Pte Ltd (“VSMC”) which will build a new 300mm semiconductor wafer manufacturing facility in Singapore. The joint-venture fab will support 130nm to 40nm mixed-signal, power management and analog products, targeting the automotive, industrial, consumer and mobile end markets. The underlying process technologies are planned to be licensed and transferred to the joint venture from TSMC.
